ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Crown College Softball kicked off their 2021 conference play Thursday with a doubleheader against the St. Scholastica Saints.
Game one featured a trio of pitchers for the Storm.
Abbie Carroll got the nod to start and went one and two-thirds innings. After that,
Maddie Noble came in, going two and a third, followed by
Lindsay Glover, who finished the last inning. Despite some hard-hit balls, the Storm were never able to get their offense going and fell 9-0.
Sophomore
Ashley Earick started game two on the mound for the Storm. She went five and two-thirds innings until
Lindsay Glover game in for the final out, continuing her role as closer for the day.
Starting off the game hot,
Liz Kemp and
Kuulei Ili both doubled with hits to deep right-center field to give the Storm the lead. Kemp maintained that momentum for an impressive outing, going 4 for 4 on the day with two RBIs. Unfortunately, the Saints pulled ahead after the third inning, and the Storm could not overcome the deficit losing 14-5.
The Storm finish out their homestretch Saturday with Martin Luther College coming to town. The first pitch is set for 1 o'clock.
