ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown College Volleyball began their 2020-21 season campaign after over a year and a half without a contest due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a limited roster, the Storm battled close with Martin Luther, falling 3-1 to the Knights. The Storm lost the first two sets but came alive during the third, getting six straight points to put themselves in a position to win with junior Gracie Zieroth serving.
Junior Talana Rudzitis led the way for the Storm with a team-high nine kills and twelve assists. Rudzitis' .188 attack percentage was the highest for the Storm. First-year Kaitlin Fischer matched Rudzitis' assist numbers exactly with 12 dimes, and Chloe Burr led the team with three aces. First-year Aryanna Puetz had three blocks in her collegiate debut.
Three Storm athletes had double-digit digs, with Madi Timm (14), Gracie Zieroth (13), and Burr (10) all playing fantastic defense.
The Storm Volleyball team will next play a week from this contest against Roseville's Northwestern-St. Paul at the Wild Athletic Center. Crown College will not be allowing fans to this contest but will be live streaming the event for free online.
