ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – Crown Softball played a doubleheader against the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars Saturday afternoon.

In game one, the Cougars came out hot, scoring three in the top of the first inning. However, the Storm took over in the second inning and never looked back. Ashley Earick went the distance on the mound, striking out five and giving up seven earned runs over seven innings. As for the offense, it was a barrage from top to bottom for the Storm. They had eight players with at least one hit and six with at least one RBI. 

They were highlighted by Kuulei Ili, who had four hits and two RBIs, and Hailey Wilson, who had three hits and three RBIs. The Cougars made a comeback bid, scoring four in the top of the last inning, but the Storm proved to be too much, taking the contest 10-7.

Game two quickly became a slugfest. The game feature sixteen doubles between the two teams as they went back and forth. For the Storm, Maddie Noble and Savannah Ellis split the pitching responsibilities, going three innings apiece. The offense stayed hot with multiple hits from eight different players from Crown. Despite the solid offensive day, the Storm could not muster enough runs and fell to the Cougars 22-16.

The Storm continue their home stretch Thursday against the St. Scholastica Saints, with the first pitch coming at 3:30 p.m.
