ROSEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown College Baseball split a doubleheader with Concordia College-Moorhead on Friday at a neutral site game on the campus of Northwestern (Minn.). After falling in the first contest 10-2, the Storm countered to win the second 5-4. Senior Seth Betts was on fire throughout the games, with three home runs and one double, four RBIs, three runs, and allowing no hits in a save, preserving a one-run lead.
Only Betts recorded a hit among Storm batters in game one, hitting two home runs and a double off the wall. Nick Schroedle received the call on the mound and went two innings before Gavin Boots relieved him. Boots pitched well, lasting five innings and allowing two earned runs, striking out three along the way.
Concordia took an early 3-0 lead in game two, but the Storm had an incredible third inning comeback where three different Storm batters hit home runs for four runs to take the edge. The inning started with Spencer Lilienthal, batting out of the No. 9 spot, who hit his first collegiate home run to put the Storm on the board. Mason Brock then got hit with a pitch to take a base (his first of two during the game), followed by Seth Betts taking a ball deep for the third time of the day to tie the score. After that, Kyle Schroedle hit his third home run of the year to take the lead. The Storm held that lead for the rest of the contest after Hunter Felts hit an RBI single to score Bailey Sarto.

First-year starting pitcher Aidan Volk-Specht made his debut for the Storm, pitching three innings with two strikeouts and earned a no-decision as he kept the Storm in a position to win the game. Senior pitcher Eric Newman relieved Volk-Specht and was a strikeout machine with five Ks in his three innings. Newman only allowed a single run and was credited with his first win of the season. After that, Betts came in to hold the one-run lead in the fifth inning and allowed no hits to earn his first save of the season.
The Storm will look to keep up their momentum from the second contest as they return to the University of Northwestern in Roseville on Monday to take on the home Eagles.
