Carroll Scores 20 in Debut, Royston Has Career-High in Close Game vs. Reigning Champs

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Storm continued their season on Thursday with a matchup against the Bethany Lutheran Vikings in Mankato. Junior transfer Cade Carroll scored 20 points in an incredible debut. Fellow junior Seth Royston set a new career-high of 16 points on Saturday as Crown Men's Basketball fell to the reigning champion Bethany Lutheran Vikings 88-76. The Storm held with the Vikings all game but could never break through to steal the lead in the second half.

Royston added team-highs of eight rebounds and two blocks in the contest, and Carroll added five rebounds and a block to his 20 points. First-year guard Micah Ladd led the team with six assists in the game, a strong beginning to his young career. Starting at guard, sophomore Alec Testerman added an efficient six points and four rebounds in only 13 minutes of play. Finishing out the starting lineup for the Storm was senior Christian Moore, who scored five, grabbed six rebounds, dished four assists, and created two Viking turnovers as he continues to show off his well-rounded game.

Off the bench, sophomore Aaron Davis and senior Micah Moan both scored seven points. Sawyer Lawhon and Cody Christensen added five points each, and Cade Neubert and Jacob Van Dam both saw the ball go in the hoop to complete the Storm's scoring performance.

Crown will play their first home game of the season on Saturday with the Northland Lumberjacks headed to town. Last season, the Storm have won four of their last five contests with Northland and look to keep that momentum with their first conference win of the year on Saturday.
