Women’s Basketball Battles Close with Macalester

St. Paul, Minn. – The Crown women's basketball team battled all night long in a very competitive game with the Scots of Macalester College.  The Storm women were tied at the end of the first quarter and trailed by just four at halftime, eventually falling by eleven points, 63-52.

The Storm were never far off the pace, but couldn't slow 6'2 Emma Lafrenz who had 23 points and 24 rebounds for an incredible double-double for the home team.  That total included 13 offensive rebounds and led to 46 points in the paint.

Crown was led by McKenzie Latzke who scored 17 points in 39 minutes of action.  Amy Martius joined her in double-figures with eleven and Dominique Urbina had eight points off the bench.

May Laverty and Shauna Thompson had six points each and Madison Morken added four to complete a balanced attack for the visitors.

Crown held the Scots to just 2-11 shooting from behind the arc, but had no match for the MIAC team's inside presence on the night.

The Storm return to action on Saturday as they travel to Free Lutheran Bible College for an exhibition at 1 p.m.
