Waukesha, Wis. – the Crown men's basketball team played a pair of games at the Carroll University Pre-Thanksgiving Classic over the weekend, dropping games to the host Pioneers and Letourneau University on Friday and Saturday. The Storm welcomed back three members of the rotation who had been out for over a week and struggled to find continuity, particularly on the offensive end.
On Friday, Crown got off to a horrible first half on the offensive end, scoring just 20 first half points on the way to a 38-20 deficit at the break. The Storm rebounded to "win" the second half, 39-38, but never really challenged Carroll as the hosts maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the half.
Seth Royston returned to lead the team with 14 points and was joined in double-figures by
Cade Carroll who had 13.
On Saturday, the Storm suffered a similar fate as the Yellowjackets pulled away at the end of the first half and led 50-34 at halftime. Down by as many as 24 points with 13:24 to go, Crown pulled to within ten points on three occasions, but couldn't get any closer as Letourneau pulled away late to earn the 94-74 victory.
Royston, who was named to the All-Tournament team, had 18 points to once again lead Crown.
Alec Testerman had ten points and a team-high four assists in 35 minutes and
Jacob Van Dam hit four threes on his way to 14 points.
Crown dropped to 3-4 with the two losses and will see their schedule slow down a little bit as they wait until next Saturday to travel to Luther College to continue their non-conference schedule.
