New Ulm, Minn. – The Crown and Martin Luther men's soccer teams combined for nine more goals on Saturday afternoon, in a matchup that was one to watch for neutrals this season. The Knights got revenge in this one, winning 6-3.
The match started out in similar fashion to the reverse fixture, with Crown scoring two early goals, but the Knights rebounded with five straight goals, three in the first half and never looked back.
Tim Jaeger scored twice on assists from Yanik Wherli with both goals coming before seven and a half minutes were gone in the game and it looked as though Crown was off to the races once again.
The hosts steadily applied pressure however, scoring in the 20
th, 26
th, and 36
th minutes before halftime, and then adding goals in the 53
rd and 79
th minutes to put the game out of reach.
Brock Knick got one back for the Storm in the 80
th minute, finishing off a nice cross from recently reinstated
Cole Matthys, to give Crown hope, but MLC killed the game off with a late goal to end proceedings.
Crown has two more UMAC contests waiting for them next weekend as they host UW-Superior and Northland to end the regular season.
