Superior, Wis. – A surge of three goals in a one minute and 15 second stretch of the first half propelled the UW-Superior women's soccer team past Crown College in a UMAC matchup on Friday. The hosts finished with a goal either side of that barrage for the 5-0 victory.
Once again playing with a short bench, the Storm hung with UWS through more than the first quarter of an hour before a dangerous cross led to a tap in for the first goal of the game.
Just before the half hour mark, the skies opened up and a downpour affected the conditions considerably, with the hosts pouncing on the resulting opportunities in quick succession.
Down 4-0 at the break, Crown battled in the second half, conceding just once more before full time.
Emma Domka had all six shot attempts for the Storm, split evenly between the two halves, while Molly Schmitz recorded 10 saves in the contest.
The Friday/Saturday format of UMAC play will challenge the Storm, who had eight players complete the full 90 minutes of Friday, as they travel to Northland College for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday
