St. Bonifacius, MN – The UMAC announced their weekly awards on Monday, and Crown College Freshman Rudy Criner (San Antonio, Texas/Cornerstone Christian) was named the UMAC Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Criner earned the award with his stellar defensive effort on Saturday against Martin Luther College. Criner finished the game with nine total tackles, an interception return for a touchdown, and a forced fumble and recovery.

The defensive back came up big early in the game when Martin Luther was driving for an early score. Criner intercepted a pass in the end zone and went down the sidelines 101 yards for an early touchdown. That interception return gave the Storm the early lead on Saturday and it set a school record for longest interception return for a touchdown.
