Tennis Falls to Morris Despite Sets Won by Cowman, Strand

LAKEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown College Tennis took on the UM-Morris Cougars in a non-conference matchup on Sunday as they continued their season. The Storm had three total sets won in the contest, two in singles play, and one in doubles.

In men's singles, Logan Strand was the only Storm athlete to win a set and won nine games in the first two sets before the tiebreaker in No. 3 singles. Romeo Mork won three games in No. 1 singles, Joe Duffy won four games in No. 2 singles, Regan Dvorak won one game in No. 4 singles, and Matt Leathers won one game in No. 6 singles. In men's doubles, the No. 1 combination of Mork and Duffy tied the first set at 7 and forced a tiebreaker, which Morris was able to take.

In women's singles, No. 5 Michaela Cowman dominated the first set 6-2 and came close to taking the second set 5-7, but couldn't take the tiebreaking third as she seeks her first collegiate win. In No. 2 singles, Cortney Gunderson took four games, as did No. 3 Sierra Allison. All three women's doubles combinations took two games, with Lauren Sporleder and Gunderson in the No. 1 spot, Allison and Abby Engrav in the No. 2 spot, and Cowman and Abby Yates in the No. 3 spot.

Crown Tennis next competes on Friday, March 27 against the North Central Rams.
