ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Women's Basketball won their final game of the season on Saturday evening, defeating the Northland Lumberjills 71-59. In a pregame ceremony, Head Coach Kevin Boozikee and the non-senior players honored each of the team's four seniors with a brief segment for each of Rose Crowns, Damonyka Roberts, Patricia Gibson, and Stevey De La Ossa. The seniors then went on to have great performances, with Roberts leading the way with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
"I just went out there and left it all out on the court," said Roberts. "This was my last time playing college ball, so that was my mindset and that's what I did."
Fellow senior Patricia Gibson had five points and twelve rebounds in the contest, making her the first person in Storm's women's basketball history to eclipse 200 rebounds in a single-season. Senior Stevey De La Ossa added 15 points and seven assists and despite a second-half injury, came out and battled during the final possessions.
Underclasswomen Shauna Thompson and Amy Martius both had impressive performances in their final game of the season, with 12 points, nine rebounds for Thompson and ten points, seven rebounds for Martius. First-year Ellie Clark scored five points, senior Rose Crowns scored two points, and sophomore Katie Archer scored two to complete the Storm's scoring performance.
The Storm completed the season sweep of the Lumberjills by doubling Northland's points in the paint (40-20) and look to carry on the success from this year's finale into next year, where they have several key contributors set to return.
