SUPERIOR, Wis. — Playing up in northern Wisconsin, the second day of the Stinger Tournament brought another pair of losses for the Storm. The first match of the day was against Nebraska Wesleyan who defeated the Storm 0-3 (16-25, 13-25,13-25). The team came out strong and aggressive in game two vs. UW-Superior taking the first set from the Yellowjackets but eventually fell to Superior 1-3 (25-22, 18-25, 18-25, 18-25). Senior Sarah Reinke was selected to the Subway Stinger Tournament All-Tournament Team after a set of impressive performances.
Reinke had an outstanding game facing Nebraska Wesleyan as she led the team in kills (5), digs (12), and aces (1). Sophomore Talana Rudzitis led in assists with eight, and senior Karissa Steinkamp and sophomore Gracie Zieroth both had one block.
Leader numbers were big in game two vs. UW-Superior with Rudzitis leading the team in kills with eleven. Senior Madeline Svoboda led in digs with twenty-four, sophomore Ellie Clark had 14 assists, and freshman Ashley Earick led with three blocks.
"I am extremely proud of how hard and competitive our team played this weekend," said Reinke. "I am excited to see what we will do within our conference this year because we have a great group of girls who are hard-working and talented."
Crown's next game will be at the University of Northwestern in Roseville on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 pm.
