SUPERIOR, Wis. --- Crown Tennis concluded their season on Thursday, facing the UW-Superior Yellowjackets in a set of conference tennis contests. Both the men and women fell 1-8 to the UMAC opponent.
For the women, it was the combination of
Lauren Sporleder and
Cortney Gunderson in the No. 2 doubles spot that took home their first match win of the season , defeating Emily Wald and Sam Westgaard 8-4. For the men, it was the No. 2 singles matchup that gave Crown the point, with
Romeo Mork defeating Grady Hauswirth convincingly, 6-3, 6-1.
Also for the men,
Caleb Baumann took five games in No. 1 singles, and both Jake Sporleder and
Mike Brewster took one game. Baumann and Mork took one game in No. 1 doubles and
Andrew Moorse and
Joe Duffy took one game in No. 2 doubles.
In women's matchups,
Lauren Sporleder and
Cortney Gunderson both took three games in their singles matchups, and
Sierra Allison took one.
Abby Engrav,
Abby Yates, and
Emily Eischens also competed for the Storm.
The Storm conclude their 2019 tennis schedule and their second year of Crown's NCAA-era Tennis program.
