ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Softball played St. Scholastica twice on Friday afternoon, and the Saints pitcher had a career day, allowing only three Storm hits as St. Scholastica bested Crown 11-0, 4-1.
In game one, it was centerfielder
Telma Roesler that broke up the perfect game in the fourth inning as she reached first on an error by the Saints' infield. The very next batter,
Liz Kemp followed that up by breaking up the no-hitter with the Storm's lone hit of the game. First-year pitcher
Maddie Noble received the start for the Storm, going five innings with six earned runs.
In game two, the Saints once again jumped out to a lead with four first inning runs. From there on,
Olivia Christopherson dealt six innings of shutout softball, striking out eight along the way. Christopherson had one earned run in seven innings of outs. In the second inning, Christopherson struck out the side in only eleven pitches. However, once again, the Storm struggled to make contact with the Saints' ace on the mound, with
Lottie Ellis breaking up the no-hitter in the fifth inning. Crown was able to score a run late, with
Demi Brezina hitting an RBI triple to score
Zoe Roberts from first.
The Storm drop to 4-10 in conference play but look to right the ship on Tuesday against the Martin Luther Knights in their last conference contests of the year.
