ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Softball fell twice to the Northwestern Eagles on Tuesday, 10-2 and 4-3. In game one the Storm struggled, with only
Samantha Collins and
Laryssa Vik having RBIs and
Liz Kemp having the Storm's lone extra-base hit of the matchup.
In the second contest, the Storm showed life with a two-run first inning as
Telma Roesler scored on an
Olivia Dols groundout and
Lottie Ellis hit an RBI-single that scored
Demi Brezina to take an early 2-0 lead. Crown expanded on that lead in the second inning when
Liz Kemp hit a single to score Roesler once again. Unfortunately, the Storm bats fell quiet from there, and the Eagles slowly took the lead from their initial three-run deficit. Roesler was the premier batter in game two, with both of Crown's extra-base hits, a double and a triple.
Liz Kemp took the mound initially in both games, going a combined 3.1 innings in both contests with three earned runs.
Maddie Noble took the mound the rest of the way in game one, and
Olivia Christopherson pitched the rest of game two. Christopherson had a solid performance, with 4.2 innings pitched, two earned runs and an incredible eight strikeouts.
The Storm next play on Friday, with the St. Scholastica Saints headed to St. Bonifacius. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
