LAKEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown Men's and Women's Tennis were at LifeTime Fitness in Lakeville on Thursday, completing a conference matchup with the UM-Morris Cougars. It was their second meeting with the Cougars this season, and the Storm hoped to avenge a set of early season losses. Unfortunately, the Cougars once again prevailed, winning 7-2 in Men's, and 9-0 in Women's.
For the men, it was
Caleb Baumann and
Romeo Mork who took the two singles victories in the contest. Baumann defeated Jack Flicker in the No. 1 spot 6-4, 6-4 and Mork defeated Cole Peters in the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-3.
In other men's matchups,
Andrew Moorse took four total games in No. 3 singles,
Joe Duffy took six games in No. 4 singles. Jake Sporleder won three games and Psalms Lee won one game to round out the Crown performance.
Additionally, Baumann and Duffy took three games in No. 1 doubles, Moorse and Mork took four games in No. 2 doubles, and Sporleder and Lee took two games in No. 3 doubles.
The women were led by
Lauren Sporleder, who took four games in the No. 1 spot against Morris' ace.
Sierra Allison and
Abby Yates both took a single game in the contest. In No. 2 doubles,
Abby Engrav and
Nahomie Konzie won one game, and the combination of Yates and
Marina Ortiz took three games in the No. 3 doubles spot.
Next up, the Crown Tennis heads to Winona to take St. Mary's University in a set of non-conference contests. The Storm then return to Lakeville on Saturday for a matchup with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings as they continue UMAC play.
