LAKEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown Men's Tennis got out to a roaring start on Wednesday at LifeTime in Lakeville, winning their first three Men's Singles matches convincingly with a 36-3 game record in those first three slots. However, on the back end of Men's Singles, the North Central Rams tied it up with three straight sets of their own. The men eventually conceded the contest 4-5 after they lost the bottom two matches.
In #1 Singles,
Caleb Baumann won 6-1, 6-0 for his first win of the season. In the #2 spot,
Romeo Mork completed the exact same result. In the #3,
Andrew Moorse continued the trend, winning 6-1, 6-0 for the third straight match. However,
Travis Burg,
Joe Duffy, and Jakob Sporleder all fell to the Rams despite winning 15 games combined, the most in the early season for the trio.Â
In Men's #1 Doubles, Baumann and Mork won their match 8-2, the first victory for the paring in 2019. Moorse and Duffy fell despite winning three games, and Sporleder and
Mike Brewster won two games as a pairing.Â
On the women's side, Crown struggled as they fell 0-9 to the conference rivals.
Sierra Allison took one game in the #1 spot.
Lauren Sporleder took seven games in the #2, and
Abby Engrav took three games in the #3 spot. Finishing off the back end of the Storm rotation,
Nahomie Konzi took seven games in the #4 spot, and
Marina Ortiz took six games in the #6 spot. In Women's Doubles, Engrav and Allison combined for two games won, and Sporleder and Konzi combined for three.Â
Storm Tennis gets back into action on Saturday as they face UM-Morris and Simpson College in Fridley.Â
