ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Men's Basketball lost their first matchup in UMAC Play on Wednesday, as the Northland Lumberjacks traveled to the Wild Athletic Center and stole a victory from the Storm, 79-76. The Storm trailed nearly all game, but never fell down double digits. Despite being down eight with nine minutes left, the Storm took the lead with three minutes remaining but unfortunately couldn't hold off the Lumberjacks through the end of regulation.
The Lumberjacks won despite 51 combined points between juniors
Gunnar Ledin and
Timothy Wendel. Ledin surpassed his career high in a single game with 24 points in the matchup and Wendel additionally led the Storm with 13 rebounds. Along with Ledin and Wendel, senior guard
Keegan Oyugi reached double-figures with ten points in the matchup.
Wendel's 27 points, 13 rebounds and 2 steals keep him on top of the UMAC leaderboard in each category so far in this season. The Storm, now 4-1 in UMAC Play, travel to the reigning UMAC Champions Bethany Lutheran on Saturday as they continue their conference season.
