Eagles Survive Storm 95-87

ROSEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown Men's Basketball fell to the Northwestern Eagles on the Eagles home floor at the Erikson Center on Wednesday, as the Storm couldn't extend their streak to four straight victories over the Eagles. Crown and Northwestern remained close throughout much of the first half, with Northwestern pulling ahead late. The Eagles maintained that lead and survived several runs from the Storm to get back in the game.

Senior guard Josh Volness scored 18 points and had four assists in the game. Northwestern was able to bottle up junior forward Timothy Wendel offensively, who scored only 13 points but did have 17 rebounds to give him his eleventh double-double of the season. Wendel also recorded a block, two steals and an assist in the contest. 17 rebounds is Wendel's season-high and brings him up to averaging exactly 10.0 per game. Wendel now averages a double-double.

Crown had six players in double-figures, with junior Gunnar Ledin (14 points), junior Torry Ledin (12), senior Keegan Oyugi (10), and junior Kole Jusczak (10) joining Wendel (14) and Volness (18). Sophomore Christian Moore had a career-high five assists in the contest.

Wendel fouled out of the game but didn't spend the majority of the game in foul trouble, as he picked up fouls towards the end of the contest when the Storm fouled to attempt to have a chance of tying the game.

Northwestern stays with only one conference loss, improving to 9-1 in the season. Crown is UNW's lone loss in UMAC play and split the season series. The Storm drop to 6-4 in UMAC play, with a matchup against the North Central Rams on Saturday in St. Bonifacius as the Rams seek their first conference win of the season.
