NEW ULM, Minn. —— Crown Women's Basketball won their first conference game of the season on Wednesday evening, besting the Martin Luther Knights 69-51. The Storm had four players in double-figures. Junior guard
Stevey De La Ossa had a great first half, shooting 100% from the field, and ended the game with a team-high 15 points. Fellow juniors
Rose Crowns and
Damonyka Roberts both had 14 points; the first-year guard
Shauna Thompson had 11 points.
Junior
Patricia Gibson had nine rebounds to lead the Storm, and De La Ossa had six assists to lead Crown. A key in the game was bench play, with the Storm bench outscoring the Knights 22-2.
The Storm shot 48% from the floor and 60% from three-point range and held the Knights to only 26% from the field and 15% from three-point land. Crown looks to stay hot as they head to Wisconsin for a matchup with Maranatha Baptist on Saturday.
