Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Fourth Quarter Surge Leads Storm to First UMAC Win

NEW ULM, Minn. —— Crown Women's Basketball won their first conference game of the season on Wednesday evening, besting the Martin Luther Knights 69-51. The Storm led by five points at halftime, but really went ahead when they ended the game with a 25-12 fourth quarter including a run of 12 straight points during the quarter.

The Storm had four players in double-figures. Junior guard Stevey De La Ossa had a great first half, shooting 100% from the field, and ended the game with a team-high 15 points. Fellow juniors Rose Crowns and Damonyka Roberts both had 14 points; the first-year guard Shauna Thompson had 11 points.

Junior Patricia Gibson had nine rebounds to lead the Storm, and De La Ossa had six assists to lead Crown. A key in the game was bench play, with the Storm bench outscoring the Knights 22-2.

The Storm shot 48% from the floor and 60% from three-point range and held the Knights to only 26% from the field and 15% from three-point land. Crown looks to stay hot as they head to Wisconsin for a matchup with Maranatha Baptist on Saturday.
