ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown's women's soccer season continued to roll on Thursday after the team defeated Faith Baptist 5-0. The Crown women have outscored their opponents 15-0 in their first two games to start the season, giving a sense of optimism about how the season looks to shape up.
The game started looking like a potential defensive matchup at the start, with both teams sharing possession and no scores through the first 35 minutes of the game. From there, senior
Leah Bartlett broke the tie on an assist from
Hailey Carter for the only goal in the first half of play. That goal was Bartlett's second of her career and her second in as many games.
After the break, Crown scored on a goal by
Anna Kragt from
Katelyn Carter, a very familiar play from the past few years of Storm soccer. Then, between the 75th and 85th minutes, first-year
Hailey Carter put on a show, scoring three goals in nine minutes.
Katelyn Carter had assists on two of the plays, and Kragt assisted on the other.
"I think we did really well. We picked up the pace and were able to get the ball to the net and made some incredible runs," said
Hailey Carter. "I have to give credit to my teammates for helping me score those goals."
Sophomore goalkeeper
Michaela Cowman picked up her second straight win, improving to 2-0 on the season with three saves and no goals allowed.
Hailey Carter also led Crown in shots with ten in the game, eight on goal.
Katelyn Carter and
Anna Kragt both had five shots on goal.
Crown improves to 2-0 on the season, with a UMAC matchup with St. Scholastica the next game on the agenda, September 12th at 5 pm. That game will take place at KleinBank Stadium, so come out and support your undefeated Storm women!
