Shrewsbury's OT Game Winner Tops Lumberjacks

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- As men's soccer continued their UMAC season, Crown faced the Northland Lumberjacks at home in a close contest, narrowly defeating NC 2-1 in overtime. Crown outshot the Lumberjacks 46-5 as the Storm held possession most of the match.

Crown scored first with a goal in the opening half by senior Storm Heyer on a penalty kick. Northland countered as they found the back of the net in the 51st minute, and the game remained tied through the end of regulation. Late in the first overtime period, with 22 seconds left on the clock, junior Mason Shrewsbury found a way to score with two quick shot attempts, the first bouncing through the goalkeeper's legs and the second landing in the goal for the Storm win.

"With 21 seconds left there was a huge rush to get that goal off and to have the team sprint after me, I [actually] got a little claustrophobic," said Shrewsbury. "It was just great, we are out here playing for God."

Heyer led the team with 14 shots and five shots on goal. Shrewsbury was also in double figures in shot totals with 10 in the game. Senior keeper Eli Etzel won his second game of the year, and had one save, only allowing one goal as Crown held the ball for the majority of the contest.

Crown continues their season on Tuesday with the UM-Morris Cougars coming to KleinBank Stadium.
