Dunn & Pruett Shine as Crown Splits with NCU

Minnetonka, Minn. — Crown's senior pitcher Gideon Dunn pitched a complete game and only allowed three hits in a win against North Central on Tuesday evening, with five strikeouts and no walks in Dunn's second win of the season.

Crown scored all of their runs in the third and fourth innings as Kress Medina's savvy base-running allowed him to score on an NCU catcher error. Seth Betts also swiped a bag and was able to find home plate on a sacrifice fly by Dunn later in the third. Crown added an insurance run in the fourth as Jason Sroufe walked, advanced on a balk and a Camden Wiens single and found home on another Rams error.

Despite more hits in game two (seven), Crown only scored one run and fell to the Rams in the second game. Senior pitcher Tanner Pruett threw a great game and had an impressive nine strikeouts in six innings of work and only allowed two hits. Unfortunately, one of those two hits was a three-run homer in the second inning, and that one swing gave Pruett the loss. Crown's lone run came on their only extra-base hit of the day, a triple by catcher Betts scoring Kress Medina who reached on a single earlier in the inning.

Crown hosts an exhibition again at Minnetonka today against Century College from the northern Twin Cities suburbs.
