Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Crown Wins Fifth Straight UMAC Game vs. UWS

Superior, Wis. — Crown men's basketball team won their fifth straight conference game in a 66-64 win against the UW-Superior Yellowjackets on Saturday. After creating early separation, Crown let the Yellowjackets back in the game, giving UWS multiple chances at the end; however, Superior couldn't get a bucket to fall late, so Crown was able to hold on to win.

Crown was able to hold up by the scoring ability of Tim Wendel, who scored 25 points in a dominating performance. He had a double-double with 12 rebounds in the game along with the 25 points scored. First-year Christian Moore had 12 points off the bench as Crown's second-leading scorer; he also pulled down seven rebounds. Josh Volness was Crown's other scorer in double figures but wasn't efficient only making four of sixteen attempts. Senior Trey Peace added eight points and four assists; sophomore Kole Jusczak had seven points.

Crown moves to 7-5 in UMAC play and now are tied with UM-Morris (who lost on Saturday) for the four seed in the UMAC playoffs. With a Northland loss as well, Crown is two games up on the Lumberjacks for the final playoff spot in the conference playoffs picture. If Crown takes the tiebreaker from UM-Morris, they will host UM-Morris for a home wildcard game.

Crown's next game is an away game on Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran. Bethany is tied for first place in the UMAC currently.
