Northfield, Minn. — The Crown volleyball team went to Northfield for a tournament at St. Olaf this past weekend, and faced Carleton College, Martin Luther, and Macalester College, falling 0-3, 1-3, and 0-3.
In the first match versus Carleton, Crown was led by the 12 kills by
Alayna Kohler, 17 assists by
Kelsey Roschen, and 15 digs by
Michaela Svoboda, all of who are currently seniors. Crown was leading in the third set 14-9, but Carleton came back to finish the sweep against Crown 25-20.
In the second match versus Martin Luther, Crown took their first set of the season, besting Martin Luther in the third set 25-21.
Christine Anderson and
Kaitlin Ruiter both had eight kills to lead Crown, with Roschen again leading the team in assists with 23. Roschen also had nine digs, second on the team behind Svoboda's 16.
In the third game, Macalester took all three sets handily, winning 25-12, 25-15, and 25-10. Anderson again led Crown in kills with six, Roschen led the team in digs with 10, and freshman
Talana Rudzitis led the team in assists with six. Roschen was close behind Rudzitis with five assists, compiling an impressive 45 assists in the tournament.
Crown volleyball next plays at Hamline on Wednesday.
