St. Bonifacius, Minn. — On a busy day in athletics at Crown, the volleyball team hosted a triangular with UM-Morris and UW-Superior visiting the Wild Athletic Center. Crown hoped to keep their momentum forward, coming off a 3-0 sweep of North Central. Unfortunately for the Storm, UW-Superior and UM-Morris showed why they are second and third in the conference, both sweeping the Storm. In the game against each other, the UMM Cougars swept the UWS Yellowjackets.
In the first game against the Yellowjackets, the Storm were swept 13-25, 17-25, and 14-25. Junior
Kaitlin Ruiter led the team with seven kills,; senior
Kelsey Roschen led with 17 assists, and senior
Michaela Svoboda led the team with 13 digs. Roschen was close behind Svoboda accumulating 12 digs as the primary setter. Senior
Alayna Kohler and sophomore
Christine Anderson both had a block in the game.
In Crown's second game, the third game of the tri, Crown fell to the Cougars 19-25, 7-25, 10-25. Kohler led the team with four kills; Roschen led the team with 14 assists and eight digs. Roschen, along with Kohler and Anderson for the second straight game, all had a block in the match.
Roschen had the most impressive totals in the combined statistics of the games, with 31 assists, 20 digs, two aces and a block.
Crown hopes to regain their confidence with a matchup with the Northland Lumberjills on Wednesday.
