Watertown, Minn. — Crown had a tough matchup this weekend facing #25 St. Scholastica for the last set of conference games this season. St. Scholastica showed why they didn't lose a single UMAC game this year, beating Crown 25-1 and 6-1. Crown coach
Mike Gmetro subbed out all his seniors for one last round of applause in the ninth inning in game two, celebrating one of the most accomplished senior classes in Crown baseball.
In game one, despite St. Scholastica's outstanding pitching,
David Cruz had two hits and a home run to put Crown on the scoreboard.
In game two,
Harry Ballantyne was able to get two last hits as a member of the Storm; this was his final game and is one of the most decorated baseball players in Crown history. One of his hits was a double, the only extra-base hit in the matchup.
Gideon Dunn pitched well against a powerful St. Scholastica lineup, with only three earned runs in eight innings. Dunn had nine strikeouts in the game.
Crown ends their season with a 14-18 record, just on the outside of the playoff picture.
