Minneapolis, Minn. — Crown's baseball season started on Friday night at US Bank against the MIAC's St. Olaf. The night started late after the Minnesota Gopher game preceding the already late start time of 10 pm went to 13 innings.
The first game, which began around 11:05 by the time the teams were able to warm up, saw the action of what could be one of the better pitchers in the MIAC this season. St. Olaf's Matison pitched a one-hitter complete game in the seven innings of play, picking up ten strikeouts which opened the season nicely for the pitcher. Crown's lone hit came from senior leadoff batter
Parker Lippold, who put together two great games as the games headed into the night.
In the second match, Crown got off to a great start, picking up three early runs and an early lead. Lippold reached on two hits in his first two at-bats, with a run and rbi. Senior
Harry Ballantyne had only one hit, but he had the only extra base hit for Crown in the games, reaching second on the double. Designated hitter
David Cruz and shortstop
Kress Medina also had a rbi in the second contest. Unfortunately, St. Olaf won the second game as well 6-3. The end time was 3:20 am.
Crown next plays in Florida on their spring break trip!
