St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Tim Wendel set his career high in points scored against Luther on Saturday afternoon with 34 points in an overtime battle with Luther College. He also had 13 rebounds in a game that came down to free throw shooting and isolation plays. Crown outscored Luther by eight in the second half to force an overtime period, but as Crown missed their last five free throws in the overtime period, they couldn't find a way to beat the Luther Norse.
Josh Volness recovered well by going four of eight from downtown from the previous day's game where he was zero of four from three; Volness ended the game with 17 points. Austin VanDerHeyden had 21 second-half points after only scoring two in the first. Christian Moore led the Storm with 14 rebounds and also had eight points in the game. Volness, Moore, and VanDerHeyden all recorded a block. Trey Peace went three of four from the field for seven points with five assists. Torry Ledin was two of three from beyond the arc for six points in the game.
The score was tied five times, and there were three lead changes in a game where the second half on neither team controlled the game. Crown's bench was outscored 7 to 26 in the game. Luther also capitalized on Crown's turnovers with 14 points off of turnovers compared to Crown's five points off of Luther's turnovers.
Crown hopes to break their three-game losing streak on Wednesday as they head to UNW for a UMAC matchup vs. the Eagles.
