Crown Leads at Half, Eventually Falls to UNW

Roseville, Minn. — The Crown football team took on the Northwestern Eagles for their last game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Storm defense played spectacularly in the first half, holding Northwestern to no first-half points and led after a Chris Simpson one-yard touchdown run, capitalizing a fumble recovery deep in Northwestern territory; they led by the touchdown going into the half, 7-0. However, Northwestern came back with a vengeance in the second half, scoring 24 unanswered points to defeat Crown 24-7.

On offense, Luke Lithander led the Crown passing attack, going 9 for 23 for 132 yards, no touchdowns, with an interception. Derek Chilcoate led the Crown rushing game with 46 yards on 13 attempts, and Marlon Brown led Crown in receiving yards after gaining 69 yards (with a game-long 52-yard reception.)

Defensively, Dasean Riley led the Storm with 12 tackles, and Sebastian Alvarado led the team with two passes broken up. The Storm defense put plenty of pressure on the UNW QB, with three QB hurries. Joe Duffy, Hunter Orozco, and Alex Banks all had a QB hurry with Jadlin Waters having the lone Crown sack in the game.

Crown ends the season without a win, going 0-10 overall and 0-9 in UMAC play.
