Waverly, Iowa — Men's basketball won the consolation game in the Buzz Levick tournament on Saturday afternoon after blowing out an Iowa Wesleyan team that fell to Aurora the game before. This victory marks Crown's first win of the season after falling to UW-Stout and Wartburg (in the first round of the tourney). However, with both of those games being decided by a total of only seven points, Crown's 30-point win causes Crown to have a positive point differential.
Crown's Stefan Tellis led the team in scoring with 20 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the field and four made threes. Tim Wendel had his second double-double of the season with 13 points and ten rebounds; Austin VanDerHeyden nearly had a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Crown had seven points with at least seven points with Terrell Thomas, D'Andre Caster, Josh Volness and Christian Moore joining Wendel, VanDerHeyden, and Tellis. Crown also passed the ball incredibly against IWU with eight players with multiple assists, amounting to 20 assists in the game.
Crown next goes to Southwest Minnesota State for an away game against the Division II team as they continue their road trip.
