St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Saturday, Crown women's team faced the UW-Superior Yellowjackets as they looked for their first win of the season. After the first half remained heavily in the Yellowjackets favor, trailing UWS 0-2, Crown's late surge in the second half almost forced extra time, but Crown did eventually fall 1-2.
After UWS went up 2-0 in the 60th minute, sophomore
Anna Kragt scored on a pass from junior Kateyln Carter within the next minute to keep Crown in the game. The other two Crown shots came after that second goal as they held possession for a significant amount of time in the latter minutes of the second half. Carter had two shots on goal in that time, both saved by the Yellowjacket keeper. UWS also was given a yellow card for intentional delay of game with three minutes left in the back and forth game. Unfortunately, Crown wasn't able to score again after Kragt's goal, falling to UWS 1-2.
In goal, first-year keeper
Michaela Cowman had 12 saves and two goals allowed, a .857 save percentage in the game.
Crown next plays on Wednesday at the upstart Martin Luther team, which is currently third in the UMAC.
