St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown men's soccer team was faced with a tough matchup Friday evening, facing the top-ranked UMAC team, the St. Scholastica Saints, at KleinBank Stadium.
The Storm held the Saints to a 0-0 halftime score, stopping one of the most potent offenses in the conference, but eventually St. Scholastica's Luke Buckton found the back of the net in the 61st minute, giving CSS the lead. The Saints added a second goal in the 74th minute to keep Crown out of reach, besting the Storm 2-0.
The Crown defense held strong despite the fact that the team was outshot 5-35. Senior keeper
Eli Etzel led the way for the defense, compiling 11 saves with only two goals allowed. Fellow senior keeper
Justin Lao played twelve minutes and had a single save, no goals allowed. Senior
Cristian Olarte and sophomore
Mason Shrewsbury had all five of Crown's shots.
Crown has one game left this season, away at Northwestern next week.
