Roseville, Minn. — Senior keeper
Eli Etzel excelled in his last game as a member of the Storm, going 97 minutes without a goal scored, but unfortunately, an overtime goal and a lack of offensive production caused the Storm to fall 0-1 to the Northwestern Eagles on Wednesday night.
Crown held tight with the Eagles throughout all of the regulation time, and despite being outshot 10-27, the team defensive effort kept Crown in the game, allowing no goals in the opening 97 minutes. Etzel had 12 saves and only one goal allowed, and unfortunately for Etzel, the Northwestern overtime goal was the last play of his Storm career.
Right before the goal score by the Eagles, senior
Cristian Olarte sent a great shot attempt just above the net in overtime, proving that the game of soccer is a game of inches. Olarte, senior
Josiah Steinkamp, and junior
Austin Higginbotham all had shots on goal in the match.
Crown ends their season with a record of 3-12-2 and were 2-8-2 in UMAC games in Head Coach
Luke Herbert's second season.
