St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Tuesday night was senior night at Crown College with Bethany Lutheran in town for a men's soccer match. After a scoreless first half, sophomore
Mason Shrewsbury scored his third and fourth goals of the season to defeat the Vikings 2-0. These goals came after scoring his first two this past Saturday in a win over North Central.
Shrewsbury's first goal was from a touch by senior
Josiah Steinkamp that Shrewsbury bounced over the goalies head in the 51st minute. The second goal by Shrewsbury was unassisted in the 63rd minute to put the Storm in a great position to win the game.
Crown's senior goalkeeper,
Justin Lao, had a comfortable shutout, with no shots on goal faced in the matchup thanks to a stellar team defensive performance. The defense only allowed six shots all game, Crown outshooting Bethany 15-6 in the UMAC contest.
Crown hopes to keep their momentum rolling as they continue their homestand with a game against St. Scholastica on Friday.
