Walla Walla, Wash. — Crown traveled to Washington over break, and the competition there was fierce, facing two teams ranked in the top ten in D3hoops.com current rankings. Crown fell to both #2 Whitman and #8 Whitworth during their trip out west.
Crown first faced #2 Whitman and was once again led by the freshman
Timothy Wendel, who had 18 points and nine rebounds also adding two blocks. Sophomore guard
Josh Volness added 15 points shooting 75% from three along with a couple of assists and steals. Senior
James Brown also reached double figures, scoring 11 points in his home state of Washington. Crown fell to Whitman College 105-57.
In the second battle of Whits, Crown's faced the #8 ranked Whitworth College. The 6'5" junior
Austin VanDerHeyden scored 15 points and 6'6" Wendel scored 12 as the big men were facing Whitworth's senior seven-footer Drew Sears. Guards Volness and junior
Terrell Thomas scored 7 & 8 points each as Crown fell to Whitworth 62-95.
Crown next plays on Friday against Northwestern back in St. Bonifacius, Minn.
