Hancock, Mich. - Crown College played yet another close game versus Finlandia University on Friday night and once again saw their lead evaporate over the final minutes for a close loss. After grabbing a one point lead at half 47-46, Crown was able to sustain that lead for most of the second half seeing it swell to six points multiple times. However, Finlandia hung around and would not go away as they grabbed the lead back with 2:22 to go 74-73. Crown threatened, but Finlandia hit their free throws to seal the game 81-78.
Both teams shot nearly identical from the floor around 46% from the floor. Crown hit 11 threes to Finlandia's seven, but the major discrepancy came at the charity stripe. The Lions shot 27 free throws to Crown's nine and made 18 of them to Crown's five makes.
Crown was led by
Seth Moan with 23 points while
James Brown had 22 points and seven rebounds before fouling out.
Austin VanDerHeyden was limited to 11 points and five rebounds before fouling out.
Jordan Whitcomb had eight rebounds to lead the team in that category.
