St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown may not have beaten the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday night or even taken a set, but the mood was still positive after senior
Taylor Urcuyo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Upland Christian) set a milestone no other Crown volleyball player has reached.
Taylor Urcuyo became the first Crown volleyball player to have 1,000 digs in the NCAA era. Urcuyo had five digs Tuesday night to end up at 1,004 so far in her collegiate career through Tuesday. Once she reached the mark there was an officials timeout allowing for a brief celebration before continuing the game. Urcuyo was already the holder of the record for most career digs.
Urcuyo and Crown's volleyball team continue their season away on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 3:00 pm.
