St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown's volleyball team was so close to finding victory against UMAC opponent Northland College on Saturday night, but fell just short, losing the fifth set 13-15. Northland was able to get revenge on a Crown team that beat them in five sets in a tournament earlier this season.
After falling behind two sets to one, Crown came back and won the fourth set, sending it to a game determining fifth set to 15 points. Crown came just a bit short, losing three straight points to fall to Northland College, 13-15.
Crown was led by strong performances by sophomore
Kaylea Kidder (Shell Lake, Wis./Shell Lake), with 12 kills; junior
Michaela Svoboda (New Prague, Minn./New Prague), with three aces; junior
Katie Hinkle (Dows, Iowa / Clarion-Goldfield), with seven blocks and 11 kills; and junior
Kelsey Roschen (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) with 33 assists and 22 digs.
Crown next plays on Wednesday at Martin Luther.
