Minneapolis, Minn. – The Crown men's soccer team travelled to North Central on Wednesday, playing at the Rams newly renovated Elliot Park Field, an artificial turf pitch located just blocks from the NCU campus. The Storm took well to the new location, grabbing a late goal to win 1-0.
The game was extremely even, with both teams firing 10 shots on the day.
Justin Lao made four saves, earning his first shutout of the season, while Crown's only shot on goal was
Josiah Steinkamp's winner with less than five minutes to play.
The win earns Crown 1.5 points in the UMAC standings, with a pods format being used by the conference this year. Teams inside each pod will play twice, with the rewards for each match being halved. The other conference teams will be played once, with the full three points on the line in those contests.
The team travels to Northland College this weekend for a pivotal showdown with the LumberJacks.
