Softball Splits Again In UMAC Crossover

St. Paul, Minn. – On the second day of the UMAC Crossover, Crown picked up another win over the LumberJills of Northland College in an exciting 11-10 game that featured 24 combined hits between the two teams.

Crown found themselves down 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning before a Taylor Urcuyo sacrifice fly brought Alisha Promis in.  Sarah Petkau would drive in a run later that inning to narrow the score 4-2.  Crown would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Janelle Williams single to even the score at 5-5.

Crown exploded in the sixth inning scoring six runs highlighted by a huge three run homerun by freshman Sofia Palacios to go up 11-6.  Northland threatened scoring 4 runs in the seventh, but Petkau closed the game out to win 11-10.

Kate McLaughlin continued her strong play leading Crown with two more hits as Williams also had two.

Game two featured a Crown versus St. Scholastica matchup.  Clinging to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning, the Saints would tack on three more runs to close out the Storm 5-0 as Crown could not capitalize on their hits stranding seven runners on base throughout the game.

Six different players collected hits for Crown as Cearra Dulaney pitched in the loss.

Crown sits at fifth in the UMAC standings in the young season at 2-3.
