St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown College welcomed the Minnesota Morris Cougars to town for a UMAC doubleheader seeking to steal a couple of games from the second place team as they seek a post season spot themselves. Crown was unfortunately unable to capitalize on their hits in both games as they lost game one 11-6 and game two 6-1.
Game one saw a 3-1 Morris lead broke open in the top of the sixth inning as Morris collected six runs to provide the cushion to win. Crown scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, but could not close the distance to lose 11-6.
Crown was only able to convert 15 hits into six runs. By comparison, Morris collected 11 runs off their 17 hits. Six different girls collected two hits for Crown, and
Janelle Williams led in RBIs with two.
Game two saw Morris' ace silence the Crown bats as Crown only managed five hits over seven innings. Crown did strike first in the bottom of the second on a
Moriah Sawyer single, but Crown would not score the rest of the way.
Crown will play conference leader St. Scholastica this weekend in Duluth as they still sit in fourth place.
