St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown softball team kept their foot on the gas Friday, sweeping North Central University in a UMAC double header to move to 6-3 in conference play and claim hold of fourth place in the standings. Crown won by scores of 9-6 and 12-4, banging out 24 hits combined on the day.
Game one would see the Storm jump ahead 5-0 and cruise to the three run victory.
Cearra Dulaney earned the win, pitching all seven innings and striking out six along the way.
Cassidy Valenzuela went 3-4 and hit her first collegiate home run, knocking in three for the game.
Sofia Palacios had two hits and three RBI as well, while
Kate McLaughlin went 2-3 with a walk and scored three runs.
Game two started out a bit more evenly, with the Rams and Storm tied at four after three innings.
Carissa Beers would settle in, however, and hold the rams scoreless in frames four and five and Crown exploded offensively, rattling off eight unanswered runs to end the game early.
Beers earned the victory, striking out two in five innings work, and nine different players collected hits for the home team.
