St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown College softball team got off to a slow start this past weekend in their opening games of the 2015 season playing non-conference opponents Augsburg College and Loras College (Iowa). In all, Crown had ten new girls see significant playing time as head coach
Jamie Ross has his most robust, talented roster to date.
Although swept over the weekend, Crown showed great improvement playing each game competitively. Ironically, Crown notched only four hits in each game against some great pitchers. Through four games, freshmen
Marissa Becerra and
Cassidy Valenzuela lead Crown with four hits apiece.
Cearra Dulaney,
Sarah Petkau, and
Carissa Beers have all pitched well so far, and Crown has markedly improved their fielding percentage from last season. This bodes well for a team that was hurt by errors last year.
Crown will continue their season this week as they travel to Arizona for their annual spring break trip.
