St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown women's soccer got a much needed win on Thursday, 3-0 over visiting Finlandia University, and then fell by an 11-0 margin against St. Scholastica on Friday. The win was the third on the year for the young Storm.
Crown spent most of the first half in front of the Lion's goal, but couldn't find a way through the very defensive visitors until over 35 minutes into the game.
Katelyn Carter found space near the top of the penalty area and made no mistake, firing confidently into the right corner to give Crown a 1-0 lead.
Finlandia was in such a defensive shape that Crown keeper
Emily Kirby came all the way forward in attack, nearly scoring when she fired a shot off the crossbar off a nicely worked short corner.
Crown tacked on two more goals in the second half, with
Katie Kragt and
Tiffany Krueger each scoring for the Storm.
Friday night featured a classy performance from a very tough St. Scholastica side. The Saints fired 45 shots on their way to 11 goals and an easy victory.
Crown will host North Central next Tuesday at 5 p.m.
