St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown women's soccer team earned their first points of the 2015 UMAC soccer campaign, claiming half a point for a draw with pod-mates North Central on Tuesday night. The exciting game finished as a 2-2 stalemate.
The rams got on the board quickly after a nice turn on the end line from conference leading scorer Dakota Sparrman. The Rams forward found space and played a simple cross to Karlee Hoover for the tap in goal.
Crown was unfazed, however, and drew level on a nice finish from
Keisha Prafke after a low cross found its way across the penalty area for the freshman to strike at.
Crown took the lead early in the second half when
Emily Kirby lashed home a goal off the inside of the post, putting the Storm in the lead at 2-1.
Less than five minutes later, Sparrman, the second leading scorer in the nation, scored to bring the game back to a deadlock and neither team was able to score in the final half hour plus 20 minutes of extra time.
Crown improved to 0-7-1 with the tie, with a pair of conference games remaining against Minnesota Morris and Northwestern.
