St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Despite a steady first half that saw both teams scoreless, the Crown men's soccer team lost 4-0 to Bethel University on Tuesday night. The Storm were hosting the Royals in a non-conference game in KleinBank Stadium.
Crown defended admirably in the first half, getting a little help from the crossbar on the most dangerous of the Royal's attempts. Both center backs,
Angelo Silione and
Dante Irizarry picked up first half cautions for their troubles, but were able to do enough to keep Bethel off the scoreboard.
The breakthrough came early in the second half on a neat header after a beautifully taken free kick in Crown's half of the field. A penalty goal and a quick strike less than a minute later made it three for the visitors, who got one more goal with less than a minute remaining to finish off the scoring.
Crown managed just two shots for the game and have really struggled to get anything going offensively the past two games.
They'll get another shot Thursday as both the men and women's soccer teams host Finlandia.
