Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Finish Week With Pair of Losses

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown men's soccer team suffered a pair of defeats to end the week, dropping a 2-1 heartbreaker to Finlandia and getting shut out 11-0 against St. Scholastica.

The Storm looked dangerous all first half against Finlandia, but failed to take advantage of a handful of great chances early on.  A mistake at the back gave the Lions the lead just under a quarter of an hour in and Crown would be forced to play catch up.

An equalizing goal came from a beautiful buildup as right back Franz Schrantz played a sublime cross into the box which was taken down by Josiah Steinkamp and coolly finished by Ger Jones.

Despite having the momentum, it was Finlandia who found a late winner, scoring with just over 10 minutes remaining to steal the win.

It was a wide open game, with neither team taking full advantage of their opportunities.  The teams combined for 39 shots, with just 11 being on goal.

On Friday, Crown finished off their busy home week by hosting conference leading St. Scholastica.  The Saints looked every bit the dominant side, scoring early and often to build an 8-0 halftime lead.  The visitors would tack on three more goals in the second half, and despite 14 saves from Justin Lao, would prevail by an 11-0 score.

Crown will remain at home early next week as they host North Central on Tuesday.
