St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Martin Luther College Knights came from two goals down to defeat the Crown men's soccer team on Tuesday night, scoring three unanswered goals to win 3-2 on a rainy night at KleinBank Stadium.
The Storm jumped out to a quick lead on goals by
Cristian Olarte and
Ger Jones.
The Olarte goal kicked off the scoring and will go down as a goal of the season contender. The sophomore took a touch onto his right foot near the top of the box and fired one past the Martin Luther keeper who could only look over his shoulder and watch the ball in off the side netting.
Crown doubled their lead when Jones fired a shot that the Knights keeper couldn't square up and the ball deflected into the roof of the net.
The Storm found quality chances hard to come by the remainder of the game, and despite decent possession in the midfield led by the inspired play of
David Jensen, MLC found their way back into the game.
After a first half goal brought the Knights to within 2-1, the constant pressure by the visitors paid off with a game tying goal.
In the 81
st minute, Aaron Swanson fired a rocket from 35 yards out that would prove to be the game winner.
Crown will wrap up their season on Friday as they host Minnesota Morris for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
